Raise The Bar Rooftop @Clarens Hotel

This place has amazed me with its beauty and luxury. And to top it up, the mouth watering food and best of best cocktails. Best place to chill out with friends over few drinks at the beautiful rooftop. The rooftop terrace have been designed extremely well and thoughtfully which makes it even more appealing. In this beautiful winter evenings of Delhi, one must visit tis place and make the most of this amazing place along with their well crafted drinks and food.

The story behind “Raise The Bar” is that they take you on a Cocktail Journey through different corners of the world and share untold stories of the land. They start from the glorious Gardens of England; the fruity drinks to the America in the 1920’s with its rich and flavourful gin-based cocktails.

The story doesn’t end there. these guys reached the Amazon Rainforest to create drinks that are exotic and infused with the bittersweet flavours of cocoa and bourbon. They also pay a homage to the Great Himalayas, the mystical land of magic and grandeur, resulting in cocktails soaked with zesty tastes.

P.S. – Press Release

On the occasion of Father’s Day this year two great minds ‘Vickrham Vicky’ founder of  “Foodmaniacs” and ‘Aditi’ founder of “Ikreate” collaborates together for an amazing cook off in association with Crown Plaza, Gurgaon. Their small idea turns out to be a successful event and I was one among many bloggers who happens to be a part of it.

‘Crown plaza’ helped set up an amazing individual cooking sections for each participants along with wide variety in the pantry. Everything was available for the cook off along with specific sections for Grill, sauté and deep frying. I was amazed to see the enthusiasm and turn over of good cooks for this event. Everybody was talented and ready to create their unique dishes.

The panel of judges includes MasterChef Season 5 Star “Siddharth Talwar” who along with Executive Chef “Nilesh Dey” who were present to guide the participants as well as kept an sharp eye on the way they were cooking. There main focus was on reducing the waste we normally do while cooking. The lesser the waste, higher the points. Few more important judging criterias were the innovation, technique and most of all the taste of a particular dish. At the beginning 5mnts were given to select their required items from the pantry and later extra 1mnt in the pantry between cook off . Overall 1hrs was given to create their final dish.

I had a ball of a time witnessing the whole event. It was great to see the energy and enthusiasm the participants showed all along. I was surprised to see the each and every idea people had for their dish. Not a single dish was average. Everybody showed unique cooking skills and innovation. The main attraction was to watch two kids “future chefs” participating along with the elders.

Speaking at the event, Chef Siddharth said,

“The Fathers day special cook off event hosted by Crowne Plaza Today Gurgaon, Media Event Partnered by Vickrham(vicky) of Foodmaniacs and organised by Aditi of Ikreate was one of the best cook off events judged by me. A very meticulously arranged and coordinated event went off very smoothly and without a doubt had the best chosen contestants. Best of ingredients, equipments and contestants will always make a contest a memorable one. Kudos to all”.

Many thanks to “Foodmaniacs” and “Ikreate” for totally believing in this concept as cooking for your loved ones never fails, and hence what better than showing some love to your father by cooking for him on Father’s Day and tried making it more interesting by adding the competition layer to it. Looking forward to see many such events by this amazing duo.

“The Winner”

Well!! This review might be a little long review as visiting this place was not just a casual late lunch but a whole new experience. For some moment I felt I was in some Italian restaurant in Italy itself. This place evoked my urge to make a travel plan.
These guys are super serious about their food and doesn’t deviate from the originality.
Right from fresh basil grown in the kitchen, to importing ingredients direct from Italy makes the whole dining experience a gala affair. They have even taken care of the cutleries and plates which gel perfectly with the food served.

One can get a wide variety of good quality Italian Wine and also Indian Wine. They have their own bottles of spring water right from the Himalayas.

The Pasta Bowl Company is an authentic Italian restaurant aiming to give you the best possible Italian Cuisine experience.
Got the opportunity to sit with “Chef Om” who happens to be the Founder as well, shared amazing stories behind behind creating this place and also knowledge about the Italian food. Learned to pronounce few Italian words correctly. 😉

I had the privilege to taste their new menu –
“Cucina Con Amore” (Cooked with Love) – A 3 course special menu for late lunchers @999 + tax
The menu is focused on corporates and late launchers.

Ambiance of this place speaks a lot. Simple sitting arrangement, homely decor, lots of natural light coming in, antique wall clock and the music.

Few of the items I’m in love with –

# Pomodoro – Freshly roasted crisp Tuscan Bread topped with roasted cherry tomatoes and pesto cream.

# Funghi e olio di Tartufo – Freshly roasted crisp Tuscan Bread topped with Portobello, truffle oil drizzle.

Main Coure

# Spaghetti Pomodoro E Basilico – long pasta tossed with Italian tomatoes and fresh Basil sauce.

# Pollo Alla Griglia – Herb marinated chicken breast grilled and served with vegetables and Sicilian tomato sauce.

# Cannoncini – Lemon cream filled brioche horns

# Panacotta della Stagione – pancetta of the season. I got the mango panacotta 😀

Fat Lulu’s @DLF Phase IV

Fat Lulu’s is yet another destination in Gurugram for Italian fresh made pizzas and pastas. There have total of five outlets in Delhi / NCR and sixth outlet is opening very soon.

This place looks like a small country side cafe with good food choices. Cross Point Mall in DLF Phase IV is a place to discover new eateries as they have many good options along with the clam and away from hassle wassle from the city. Happen to visit the place with few friends and unexpectedly ended up siting for quiet few hours. Loads of fun games were organised that day. The service was on time and people of this place are very polite and fun loving.
Making a small pizza myself in the Chef Kitchen was a delight 🙂

My first order was a delight

# Summer Cooler and Watermelon Feta Salad  – so refreshing and perfect for this weather.

# Bacon Wrapped Prawns – It was yummy! Normally not that big fan of prawns but I happen to like very much.

# Chicken wings platter – the flavours were good. chicken was juicy.

# Pulled Apart Garlic Bread – Trust me on this! everybody needs to try. simple, flavourful, comfort food.

# Charcoal Roasted Mushroom – Not a big fan. The flavour was too strong for me. Charcoal and soya sauce was harsh and it overpowered the dish.

# Pizzas – All the Pizzas at this place was good. They were fresh and you could see them prepared in front of you. Very hygienic as well.

The Masala Trail – By Osama Jalali

“The Masala Trail” at Ansal Plaza is yet another from the restaurant jewels from Osama Jalali apart from four other outlets in Delhi. They Have now total of 5 outlets including places like Janpat / Noida / Dwarka / Saket / Khel Gaon – Ansal Plaza.

Indian Cuisine has been celebrated all over the world since ages and specially when it comes to Indian Street Food, people from India as well abroad swears by it. It has always been a festival of flavours, spices, unique combination and different cultures.

The diversity in Indian Street food is immense as each region has its own specialities to offer. “Street Food” is a symbol of the region soul, reflection of diverse culture, a meeting point for people from different religion and walks of life and a staple diet for the multitude. India has a mixed population of vegetarians and non vegetarians. However, 99% of population relish the vegetarian delicacies provided by street food vendors in its authentic forms.

“The Masala Trail” is a pure vegetarian restaurant which offers traditional street cuisines from North, South, East and West regions of India in a hygienic environment.

Few of the items I can’t resist talking about –

# Tower Chaat – My best so far. Delhi is under the scorching heat and nothing is more soothing then a dish which comforts your palette, great on flavours and light on tummy. This dish is a combination of different chaats inside a single glass. Loaded with flavours.

Tower Chaat

# Banana Poori – This was the first order from my end. Poori Bhaji or Poori Aloo is something loved in every house in India . It brought back my memories from childhood where we use to fight for the pooris. But did not try the Banana Poori from south. It is prepared with ripe banana massed in the poori tough which gives little sweet taste. Very soft in texture.

Banana Poori

# Litti Chokha – Its a Bihari cuisine although the flavours are quite similar to my own Assamese cuisine. Both has a common ingredient “Mustard” which overpowers the overall dish. This dish is of similar concept of a Rajasthani Cuisine named ” Daal Baati Churma”. In Litti Chokha you get fried wheat tough with lots of raw mustard oil in the wheat balls served with potato gravy and daal.

P.S. Not for people who is intolerant of strong mustard oil flavour.

Litti Chokha

# Triple Sack Rice – This was little off the regular street food. It came like a bowl meal. Had crispy noodles at the bottom, middle layer of manchurian gravy and fried rice on top. You get all the flavours together and its a complete meal by itself.

# Ragda Patti – Was good but personally I am not big fan of it.

Ragda Patti

# Amritpuri Panner Tikka – You get in many Delhi food outlets. Although the tastes really good.

Amritsari Panner Tikka

# Mumbai Tawa Pulao – Very famous Mumbai Street food. Although I never tried the original Tawa Pulao in the streets of Mumbai, I really loved the overall dish. Very filling and loaded with flavours. Loved the tangy taste from the lemon squeezed on top.

Mumbai Tawa Pulao

# Matka Kulfi / Haji Ali Fruit Cream – Both the deserts were very tasty and perfect for the summers.

Never had such a wonderful time eating out.

Andrea’s House Salad
